On the borders of the IJsselmeer, only 20min. from Amsterdam, you find the splendid isle of Marken, connected with the mainland in 1957, where the atmosphere of old has never ceased to reign.The only hotel on Marken offers seven unique hotel rooms, all decorated differently in characteristic Waterland colours. Our nostalgic rooms with its interior from antique and flee markets, distinghuish themselves from standard hotels and offer a magnificent view of Marken overlooking meadows, the IJsselmeer and harbour. The historical hotel (anno 1905) is located at only a stone´s throw away from the harbour. In the restaurant your breakfast prepared with personal care is served on the agreed time. During the summertime you can enjoy our peaceful terrace. Lunch and dinner are served from Wednesday till Sunday in our cosy restaurant. The hotel offers rent-a-bike service to explore the beautiful island and its surroundings. Hof van Marken is an excellent starting point for excursions to nearby rural villages like Durgerdam, Zuiderwoude, Broek in Waterland, Monnickendam, historical Edam and Volendam by ferry and direct bus line to Amsterdam CS.

Strongly recommended is a promenade along the dyke of Marken where you pass the Icebreakers that protect the clustered houses from the threat of drifting ice-floes during strong winters. At the beautiful Lighthouse Horse of Marken the children can play on the beach near the water. After this promenade or cycling trip through typically Dutch landscape, you enjoy the warm ambiance of Restaurant Hof van Marken. Here you and your children will immediately feel at home.

On approaching the isle of Marken, you will be caught by the wide view of the Gouwzee waters and the further beauty of the authentic island. The famous white horse lighthouse and the clustered houses will be lying ahead of you and the feeling will come over you to be away from it all.
