Op de Horsten is located in the vicinity of Amsterdam and right in the heart of Waterland.Former residence of engineer Gemaal de Poel. The premises are situated in one of the most attractive beauty-spots of Waterland, namely the dike between Monnickendam and Marken, with a fantastic view on the Gouwzee with Marken and Volendam on the distant horizon.

On the top of the dike there is a walking and cycling route and we have private access to this path. The famous walking route called the Zuiderzeepath follows this path. Monnickendam, a historic town lies within walking-distance. Monnickendam offers numerous touristic high-lights, like its historic centre with its well-known bell tower, its fish and eel smoking houses and its many drinking and eating establishments.

The bus to Amsterdam stops almost on our doorstep and you can safely park your car on our private parking-lot which is closed off by an electric entrance gate.

Op de Horsten provides spacious guest rooms all with spectacular views on the Gouwzee and Waterland. The rooms offer all the modern conveniences like a private bathroom, satellite tv, Wireless Internet, private fridge, daily cleaned towels and appliances to maken coffee or tea.In the morning a delicious breakfast will be served in the living room.

The surroundings are ideal for cycling, walking, canoeing, boating or fishing.Nearby places: Volendam with its harbour. You could take a boat to Marken, wich is well-known for its wooden houses on terps and poles.Edam with its famous cheese market in the summer.Zaanse Schans with its mills, wooden houses and warehouses.

We kwamen aan, hebben de spullen op de kamer gelegd en we konden meteen op de fietsen en weg waren we. Helemaal goed.

Very pleasant place to stay for visiting waterland and all its little harbours

Heel vriendelijke mensen, hartelijk, behulpzaam en professioneel.Er was ook aandacht voor kinderen, ze waren meer dan welkom. Prachtige ligging, mooi authentiek huis, zicht op water, zo dicht bij Monnickendam (mooie wandeling) en Amsterdam (half uurtje bus). Kamer erg netjes, zeer goede bedden,ruime douche. Kleine frigo op de kamer is aangenaam, de mogelijkheid om iets af te wassen is mooi meegenomen.
