Deventer - Grand mansion (1883), located in the centre of Deventer.

This grand mansion dating from the year 1883 is located in the centre of Deventer. The B&B is named after “De Keizer” bulwark established right in front of the Brink gate in 1542 as a fortification of the defences. After the demolition of these defences around 1880, characteristic mansions for the upper middle class were built in the Brinkpoortstreet. One of these buildings accommodates the Bed & Breakfast ‘Op de Keizer’. Once this historical building was occupied by a wine trader and later on by different G.P.’s with their practices at home. The present owners have been living there since November 2006. Although it has not been extensively renovated, the house needed to be re-styled. Under the lowered ceiling a beautiful, virtually intact plastered ceiling was discovered. The building’s atmosphere is a pleasant mixture of classic and modern. Considering the large number of rooms the notion of a B&B gradually developed during the renovation.

Accommodation and prices
Recently the two guestrooms have been realised.
The room in the basement has a private entrance, terrace and bathroom. It is provided with an electric adjustable double bed, a digital flatscreen television, a dvd player with dvd’s, internet connection, a refrigerator, a Nespresso-coffee machine and a water boiler. There is also a wide range of periodicals and magazines available. The bed can be made as two single beds on request.

The second, very spacious room is on the first floor. It also has an electric adjustable double bed, a separate bathroom, a television with dvd-player and dvd’s, internet connection, a table with chairs, a refrigerator, and a Nespresso coffee machine and water boiler. The toilet is in the hallway.
The luxury breakfast is served in the dining room.
Two or three single beds can also be arranged in this room.

We had a wonderful stay at the Keizer in Deventer, and would recommend it to anyone. We came on the recommendation of a good friend in France.
